One of the questions we have been asked, is if we are a charity ourselves. The answer is no, we are not a charity. There are a couple of reasons for this, the first is that by not being a charity ourselves we can support a wide variety of charities and not focus on a single cause or associated causes. We also like the idea of letting the people we work with in the towns we work in decide what charities to support and why rather than saying that the book they are creating can only support this kind of charity.
In addition, we also believe that what we want to achieve with the book is about charity and community, that for there to be a healthy community you need a strong charitable side and vice versa. So our ethos is very much to try and bring charity, community and local businesses together. We believe the best way to do this is by remaining as a business. However we have looked at becoming a charity and might do so in the future, though at this stage we do not have any plans to become one.
